Day 13: Spirit Lake, IA

Well, immediately following “May the Fourth Be With You” comes May 5th. Happy Cinco de Mayo! We are having parmesan crusted walleye for dinner, although I did suggest frijoles negros y arroz (black beans and rice), which also sounded good.

Big news today is that Uncle Roger saw his first Rose-breasted grosbeak of the season. We have also seen an Eastern Towhee and there has also been a sighting of a female Baltimore oriole, so the bird feeders are now full of grape jelly and orange halves.

Tonight Auntie and I are going for a walking tour of downtown called Sip n’ Stroll. Similar to “Fondren After 5” in Jackson, this is a stroll through historic downtown Spirit Lake while sampling wine, spirits and food. Tickets include the commemorative glass and door prizes. (Must be 21 to participate. Think I qualify?) Fun!

Tomorrow morning we head back to Gary and Sara’s for a day or two, then it’s off to Mississippi. Sleep well out there!
